Societies
For this
exercise societies are companies, governments and organisations etc. It's
supprising how many do respond to requests for information, even for tours
of their business. Requests like these are better done by post or email
as finding the person you need toi talk to can be difficult and once you've
found them they can be very busy. A letter or an email request information
with a mention of a visit is a good way to start. The NHS and the Governemt
have open door polices which support open learning techniques so you should
find good co-operation here. Companies can be suppisingly helpful to,
especially if it's to do with a success or historic event.
With the Internet
it's possible to connect ot companies and institutions all around the
world many which already have useful information on their website already.
Sometimes a simple, "your company uses @@@@, would you be able to
advise me where I can find out more about @@@@", can get you a barrol
load of information and links. Of course it can also get you nothing so
don't rely on this as a primary source for your research.
